WATER
Essential for life as we know it, water covers more than 70% of the planet.
Only a very small percentage of this water however, is fresh, and suitable for human consumption.
Taken for granted, overused, misused, polluted, wasted, the water cycle is under extreme pressure.
Yes it's a cycle, and whatever we use goes back into that cycle once we've finished with it,
but the problems lie in the amount we take out at any given time, the state in which we return it,
and the ways in which we interact with our oceans, lakes and rivers
(and all of the other systems that are linked to the water cycle).
On a global scale, there is not enough respect for this most precious of resources and perhaps
not enough awareness of the extent to which we depend on water and our ability to abuse it, sometimes without realising it.
